RHÉAL MCINTYRE
Artist painter sculptor
The painter and sculptor Rhéal McIntyre is of Acadian origin. In having kept inside the solid footprint of the marine landscapes of his childhood, he cherrishes the boreal forest that surrounds him. It is these two elements which are the source of his inspiration and his well-being.
Rhéal McIntyre was born in 1952 at Charlo, New Brunswick. At the age of 8, he was introduced to fine arts, thanks to his brother Edgar, who studied at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal. Young, he learned carpentry and, at 12 years old, in the workshop ofhis father, Rhéal begins his journey and passion for wood.
Always attracted to art, he met in the early 1990s, the young Montréal artist Sacha Barrette and asked him to initiate him to painting during an intensive period of three months. This is an exciting discovery for his soul of poet who could not express himself through writing. In his spare time, he did 42 paintings in its first year. He returned to sculpture and took other courses of drawing and painting in the Outaouais Region. But he mostly learns by himself and by experiments, and he develops over time techniques that best allow him to express his vision of the world.
